Four States Undertaken Ease of Doing Business Reforms
Assam, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab have undertaken Ease of Doing Business reforms that were set down by the Ministry of Finance. Permission has been granted to these states to raise additional Rs 5,034 crore through Open Market Borrowings. Moreover, other states that have completed the ease of doing business reforms are Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Kerala.

In a Historic Move, Women Team Inducted in CoBRA Commando Unit of CRPF
CRPF has inducted first women team in its CoBRA commando unit. CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) is specialized jungle warfare commando force. The women team will also be deployed in anti-naxal operations grid of the nation. To mark the historic move, a ceremonial event was held in Gurugram’s Kadarpur village where the selected women personnel performed combat drills. The personnel, earmarked for CoBRA, have been chosen from the existing six all-women battalions of the force.
A Teary-Eyed Farewell for Ghulam Nabi Azad from Rajya Sabha
Congress veteran leader Ghulam Nabi Azad’s term of Rajya Sabha comes to an end on 15th February and parliament gave him an emotional farewell. Former CM of Jammu and Kashmir, Mr Azad got teary-eyed while speaking his farewell speech. PM Modi also choked while sharing an incident about Mr Azad and called him a true friend. Congress leader also praised the prime minister and told about his personal bonds with him.

Bollywood Actor-Director Rajiv Kapoor Dies at 58
Actor-director Rajiv Kapoor, son of celebrated filmmaker-actor Raj Kapoor, passed away on February 9 at the age of 58. Rajiv Kapoor made his acting debut with 1983 film ‘Ek Jaan Hain Hum’. But he made his first appearance as a leading man in blockbuster ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’ (1985). This was also Raj Kapoor’s last directorial venture.
French Screenwriter Jean-Claude Carriere Dies at 89
French novelist and screenwriter Jean-Claude Carriere died on February 8, 2021 at the age of 89. Indian government awarded him with Padma Shri award in 2015. He also won Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film (1963) ‘Heureux Anniversaire’. He also won an Oscar in 1972 for “The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie” with Bunuel. Moreover, he received Academy Honorary Award (2014) for lifetime achievement.

Separate Attacks Killed 9 People in Afghanistan
On Tuesday a string of attacks killed five government employees and four policemen in Afghanistan. In the capital city of Kabul, gunmen opened fire in the Bagh-e Daud neighborhood. The attack killed four employees of the ministry for rural development. Later, the presidential palace in a statement said the target was Reyaz Ahmad Khalil. However, no one immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Pakistani forces have allegedly opened fire on the civilian in Balochistan. The Baloch Republican Party said that in the region of Kohistan Marri, the Pakistan military has started a massive operation in which they used gunships on the civil population. The officials also confirmed the deaths of two Marri Balochs. Moreover, the Pakistani Military also abducted a large number of women and children.
