In a survey conducted by FICCI, the GDP of India is expected to grow up to 9.1 % after the outbreak of the second wave of pandemic. The report of the survey also suggests that the upcoming festive season would also help to increase the economy of India. However, it might also be possible that due to the festivities there would be a surge in people’s movement and this could lead to a rise in the cases of Covid-19 again.

Pandita urged Kashmiri Hindu employees who are living in various colonies not to repeat the exodus from the valley as a feeling of fear was triggered among 3000 Kashmiri Hindus. This happened after the selective and systematic killing of 3 Hindus and 1 Sikh teacher by terrorists in Srinagar during 72 hours. The Relief Commissioner assures the Hindu employees that they are safe and need to be brave during such time.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is going to launch another Bharat Darshan tourist train from Madhya Pradesh on October 8, 2021. This decision is taken to promote religious tourism across the country. After the launch of a similar tourist train for exploration of five northeastern states, IRCTC will now start this new tourist train.  Tour packages and traveling needs are to be taken care by the IRCTC team.

On Wednesday, Padma Sachdev who authored many books in Dogri and Hindi passes away at Mumbai hospital. Padma died at the age of 81. She was born in the Purmandal area of Jammu in 1940. She got hospitalized due to some complications in her health. She also received Padma Shri Awardee for her works in 2001 and was also awarded the Kabir Samman for poetry for 2007-08.

Earthquake of Magnitude 6.1 Jolted Tokyo Turning Whole City into Dark

Tokyo and its surrounding areas were hit by a strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.1. This caused destruction in the work like stopping train lines and causing power cuts. However, there were no reports of major damage after the tremors which were started at 10:41 p.m. (1341 GMT). The epicenter of this quake was in Chiba. Japan Meteorological Agency said that there was no danger of a tsunami from this quake but the government has set up an emergency response task force.

Abdulrazak Gurnah Won Nobel Prize in Literature

This year’s Nobel Prize in Literature has gone to Abdulrazak Gurnah who is a Tanzanian-born novelist. His works explore the legacies of imperialism on uprooted individuals. His novels have been shortlisted for many awards in different countries. His novel ‘Paradise’ was shortlisted for both the Booker and the Whitbread Prize and ‘By the Sea’ for the Booker and the Los Angeles Times Book Award. Abdulrazak Gurnah was born in Zanzibar in the year 1948 and came to Britain in 1968 as a student. He is now living in Britain and works as a teacher of literature at the University of Kent.
