Unemployment rises as 35 lakh jobs gone in November as per CMIE

According to CMIE’s Consumer Pyramids Household Survey, about 35 lakh jobs were lost in November. The total employment in the country dropped from 403.9 million in 2019 to 393.6 million by November 2020.

Tesla electric cars to arrive in Indian markets in 2021.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk in a tweet said that Tesla electric cars are coming to India ‘next year for sure.’ Minister of transport Nitin Gadkari has confirmed that Tesla is going to start operations in India in early 2021.

India is looking to make a massive push for electric cars and reduce the nation’s dependence on oil and to curb pollution majorly in metropolitan cities. Nitin Gadkari has said that India is going to become a number 1 manufacturing hub for auto in five years.

Government of Chhattisgarh to set up India’s 1st ethanol plant under PPP model

Chhattisgarh government signed a contract execution (MoU) for the country’s first ethanol plant to be set up in the state under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. According to Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel the plant will ensure timely payment of sugarcane price to farmers and full utilization of sugar factory capacity. Further it will also generate generate direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Pneumosil: First indigenous pneumonia vaccine of India launched by health minister

Union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan launched Pneumosil, India’s first indigenous vaccine against pneumococcal disease. The vaccine is developed through the association between Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and health organization PATH. World’s largest vaccine manufacturer by doses, Serum Institute unveiled the vaccine on 28th December 2020.

New Bhaupur–New Khurja section of EDFC inaugurated in Uttar Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated New Bhaupur-New Khurja section of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) on 29th December 2020. EDFC is a 1875 km long corridor connecting Ludhiana of Punjab to Dankuni in West Bengal. The newly launched section of this corridor is 351 km long. PM claimed that the dedicated corridor will reduce the logistical cost of the railways network eventually influencing the rates of the goods.

Digital Ocean: One-stop solution for oceanographic data launched

A platform developed by Indian National Centre for Oceanic Information (INCOIS) for information sharing is launched by Science and Technology Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan. The app named Digital Ocean will be a one-stop solution for ocean data related requirements of a wide range of users across institutions and industries. The platform is expected to play a major role in sustainable management of our oceans.

Cristiano Ronaldo wins ‘Player of the Century’ at Globe Soccer Awards

Cristiano Ronaldo, a Portuguese professional footballer, has won the ‘Player of the Century’ award at the Globe Soccer Awards on Sunday in Dubai.

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and former player Ronaldinho were also in the race to bag the accolade but the Portuguese outclassed all to clinch the award.

Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski won the Player of the Year award during the event. The club’s coach Hansi Flick bagged the Coach of the Year award.  

Union Minister Shripad Naik Releases book ‘Sutranivednachi sutra- ek anbav’

Union Minister of State (I/C) for AYUSH and Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik released a Konkani book ‘Sutranivednachi sutra- ek anbav’, on 26 December, 2020. Dr Roopa Chari is the author of the book.  She is a well-known personality in the field of Compering in Goa.

This book will help aspiring youngsters who wish to make a career in this field. This is the spontaneous art. You do not nurture it by having any classes. With proper study, you always have to be vigilant, as compere is the link between the audience and the speaker.
