Indian Government will Refund Rs 8000 Crore to Four Companies
The Taxation Laws (Amendment) Bill 2021 is set to be passed in Rajya Sabha on 10 August. Once the bill is passed, then the Indian Government will have to pay Rs 8000 crore to four companies. The companies including Cairn Energy, Vodafone, WNS Capital and one more will be refunded by the government under the provision mentioned in the Taxation Laws. Moreover, this bill will remove retrospective tax provisions and end all retrospective taxes.

Ministry for Social Justice Launches A Portal and Mobile App Named ‘PM-DAKSH’
Dr. Virendra Kumar, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment has unveiled a portal and mobile app with the same name called ‘PM-DAKSH (http://pmdaksh.dosje.gov.in). The main objective of this portal /app is to make the skill development schemes accessible to the target groups. The abbreviation ‘PM-DAKSH’ means Pradhan Mantri Dakshta Aur Kushalta Sampann Hitgrahi (PM-DAKSH) Yojana. This program will be implemented through Government Training Institutes and Sector Skill Councils constituted by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Indian Railways Launched A Unified Customer Care Solution Named ‘Rail Madad’
Indian Railways has launched ‘Rail Madad’ an integrated one-stop solution for the railway sector. In this solution, the Indian Railways has merged various existing helpline numbers that were used for various purposes into one. So, now, the Railway ministry toll-free number 139 can be used for all kinds of inquiries. Passengers can also make complaints through this number and this helpline facility is available 24/7 in 12 languages.

IIT Guwahati Developed Biodegradable Wound Dressing Film
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati’s scientists and researchers have invented a biodegradable wound dressing film. It is a low-cost composite transparent dressing film that is made of a non-toxic synthetic polymer. This wound dressing film will create a moist environment that would enable the body to heal the wound on its own.
Two Spacecrafts to Make Venus flyby in Same Day
Two spacecraft will swoop past Venus within hours of each other during this week. The Solar Orbiter probe of the European Space Agency and NASA have completed the flyby around Venus this early Monday. The probe completed this by using the planet’s gravity to help put it on a course to observe the Sun’s poles. Around 33 hours later, the European-Japanese spacecraft BepiColombo will also get even closer to Venus in a maneuver design. This design will help it to slow down sharply and steer safely into the orbit of Mercury in 2025.

James Anderson broke Anil Kumble’s record of 619 Test wickets and became the 3rd-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket. Cases of Delta Variant are Surging in US, Sending More Kids to the Hospital
New cases are surging in the United States as the country started witnessing a sudden increase in coronavirus infection.
