Reserve Bank of India is set to Launch Central Banking Digital Currency (CBDC)

The Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, T. Rabi Sankar has informed that RBI is currently working towards the phased introduction of a Central Banking Digital Currency (CBDC). This CBDC is a legal tender that is issued by the central bank in a digital form. It can be exchangeable with fiat currency and it would appear as a currency (Liability) on a central bank’s balance sheet.

The main objective of this digital currency is to fulfill the digital need of money for public and to protect them from the usage of private virtual currencies. Moreover, it will also be beneficial for the transaction from RB’Is paper currency into a more acceptable electronic form of currency.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Launches 'PM CARES for Children' Scheme

The Indian Ministry of Women and Child Development has launched a web based portal called PM Cares For Children (pmcaresforchildren.in.). This web portal will allow the submission of applications and identification of children who are eligible to receive support under the ‘PM CARES for Children’ scheme.

The Prime Minister of India has announced about the ‘PM CARES for Children’ scheme. This scheme aims to support children who have lost both of their parents or legal guardian because of COVID-19 pandemic. The orphan children will get health insurance, education and equipment for self-sufficient existence with financial support of Rs. 10 lakh, till 23 years of age.

Amit Shah Inaugurated Greater Sohra Water Supply Scheme

On Sunday, the Union Home Minister of India Shri Amit Shah with Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has visited Meghalaya to launch the most awaited and prestigious “Greater Sohra Water Supply Scheme”.

This scheme was conceptualised by the government of Meghalaya and the Ministry of DoNER under NESIDS funded the project. As per the reports, the scheme will incur an expenditure of Rs 24.08 crore. During the programme, Union Home Minister also pointed out that the Central government is taking necessary steps to provide drinking water to every household.

Rudreswara Temple in Telangana Became India’s 39th World Heritage Site

The UNESCO’s World Heritage list has been added one more Indian heritage site. The Rudreswara Temple is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and became India’s 39th World Heritage Site. The temple Rudreswara Temple is also known as the Ramappa Temple and is also located at Palampet Mulugu district, near Warangal in the state of Telangana.

During the rule of the Kakatiya Empire in 1213 AD the Rudreswara temple was constructed by Kakatiya king Ganapati Deva’s general Recharla Rudra. The main deity of the Ramappa Temple is Ramalingeswara Swamy. Moreover, the temple complexes have a distinct style, decoration and technology.

Sumit Nagal Became Third Indian to win Tennis singles match at Olympic 2020

Sumit Nagal went past Istomin with the score 6-4 6-7(6) 6-4 and became the first to win for India in 25 years. He became the third Indian tennis player to win a singles men’s match at the Olympic Games. The match was held at the Ariake Tennis Centre and took two hours and 34 minutes to end. Now, in the next round he will face Daniil Medvedev who is ranked 2nd in the world.

Mirabai Chanu Wins Silver in Tokyo Olympic 2020

Mirabai Chanu from Imphal became the first Indian to win an Olympic medal at the Tokyo Games 2020 after winning the silver medal in the Women’s 49kg category. With a successful lift of 115kg in clean and jerk, Chanu registered a new Olympic record. She breaks the record of Karnam Malleswari who had won a bronze medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Moreover, Hou Zhihui of China who lifted a total of 210kg won gold and Indonesia’s Aisah Windy Cantika (194kg) bags the bronze medal.

UN Adopts First Resolution on ‘Vision for Everyone’

The United Nation is going to adopt a new first resolution on vision called as “Vision for Everyone” to make services and protect eyes. The main objective is to provide eye care services for at least 1.1 billion people by 2030.As per the reports of UN, over 2 billion people are suffering with vision blindness across the globe and at least 1.1 billion people are living with vision loss due to the lack of care.

The UN General Assembly approved this resolution and asked its 193 member nations to ensure access to eye care for everyone in their countries. This initiation taken by UN is a first step towards the a global effort to help at least 1.1 billion people with vision impairment.

Bangladesh’s ‘Jogajog’ to be Launched as an Alternative to Facebook

Bangladesh is soon going to launch its own social media platform named ‘Jogajog’. This is an alternative to the popular social platform Facebook. With this Bangladesh will also introduce ‘Alapon’ which will replace WhatsApp.  The State Minister for Information and Communication Technology of Bangladesh has made this announcement. Through Jogajog app, the entrepreneurs in Bangladesh will be able to create their own versions of online marketplace. They will also be able to group the data, information and communication.
