Budget 2021 Announcements

  1. Spending on Healthcare to be increased to Rs. 2,23,846 crore and added that Rs. 35,000 crore on Covid vaccines.
  2. Capital expenditure will be increased to Rs. 5.54 lakh crore
  3. MSP procurement on wheat had increased to Rs. 62,802 crore in 2019-20 from Rs. 33,874 crore in 2013-14.
  4. On rice the procurement had also increased to Rs. 1,41,930 crore in 2019-20 from Rs. 63,928 crore in 2013-14.
  5. The agriculture credit target will be increased to ₹ 16.5 lakh crore in 2021-22.
  6. Further, senior citizens above 75 years of age who live only on pension and interest incomes have been exempted from filling ITR.
  7. Moreover, allocation of Rs. 1,10,055 crore is going to be made for Indian Railways.
  8. About 7,400 projects will also be covered by National Infrastructure Pipeline. by 2025
  9. Allocation of Rs 24,435 crore will be made to the Women Child Development (WCD) Ministry. Also amount worth Rs 20,105 crore has been assigned to Saksham Anganwadi and Mission Poshan 2.0(for health, wellness and immunity of children in 112 districts).

CBSE Exams Date Sheet Announced for 10th and 12th Class

CBSE has announced date sheet for 10th and 12th classes board exams for 2020-21 session. Exams will be held from 4th May 2021 to 11th June 2021. In a press release issued on 2nd February by CBSE, the examination schedule for this year is of 39 days. Examinations of 75 subjects for class X and 111 subjects for class XII will be organized. Indian Celebs Call for Unity on Twitter After International Support for Farmers Protests

Farmers’ protest in India is taking new turns every day. After coverage of the news of internet shutdown and fortification of state borders surrounding protest sites in international media, many foreign celebrities came forward in support of farmers’ movement. Pop icon Rihanna, climate activist Greta Thunberg and also many parliamentarians from USA, Britain and Canada are among the people who stood for farmers. After this foreign influence, Indian government also launched a campaign calling all this propaganda. A chain of tweets by Indian celebrities calling for India’s unity started after this event. Many top cricketers, film stars and politicians tweeted in support of this campaign using hashtags India against propaganda and India United.

Oxford Declared ‘Atmanirbharta’ Hindi Word of the Year for 2020

Oxford Languages has announced the word ‘Atmanirbharta’ as the Hindi word of the year for 2020. The word ‘Atmanirbharta’ meaning self-reliance came into news all over when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to be self-reliant and launched ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ package to recover Indian economy from Covid-19 pandemic.

GA Mikkel Hansen and Niklas Landin Lead Denmark to Second Straight World Title

Denmark defeated Sweden in a captivating final in Cairo to reclaim world crown at Egypt 2021. Spain took home bronze. It is world champion once more beating Sweden 26-24 in the final of Egypt 2021 Handball World Championships on Sunday (31 January). It was a thrilling final in Cairo that stayed tight to the final stages, Denmark’s star players making the difference in the end.

Smriti Irani Inaugurated 8th India International Silk Fair

The Textile Minister of India, Smriti Irani has inaugurated the 8th India International Silk Fair on the Virtual Portal. This is the biggest silk fair of India and it is a five days long event. Moreover, the government organised this event under one roof of the virtual platform of Indian Silk Export Promotion Council.

More than 200 overseas buyers have already registered to participate in this fair. Further, around 200 overseas representatives will interact with more than 100 renowned Indian companies in India. These companies deal in the manufacturing and trading of silk and silk blended products.

Aadi Mahotsav Inaugurated by Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu

On February 1, 2021 M. Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice President of India has inaugurated the Aadi Mahotsav at Dilli Haat in New Delhi. The festival will continue till February 15, 2021 and the tribal communities will provide a glimpse of their rich traditional culture. Moreover, it comprises the display and sale of tribal art and craft, medicine, cuisine, and folk performances. Thousands of tribal artisans, artists, and chefs from across the 20 states of the country will also participate in the festival.

Ministry of Tribal Affairs organised this festival. The Aadi Mahotsav is the celebration of the Spirit of Tribal Culture, Crafts, Cuisine and Commerce. It is also an attempt to familiarize the people with the rich and diverse craft, culture of the tribal communities of the country. Moreover, the ministry organised the festival under the theme: ‘Celebration of the Spirit of Tribal Culture, Cuisine, and Commerce’.

Dalai Lama Launches His New Little Book of Encouragement

Dalai Lama, the Tibetan spiritual leader has recently launched his new book ‘The Little Book of Encouragement’. The book comprises 130 quotes and Renuka Singh edited it while Penguin Random House published it. The Dalai Lama while launching the book highlighted that, he is one among more than seven billion human beings who are alive today amid the COVID-19 pandemic. So, he has committed to promote the human happiness.

WHO Team Visits Provincial Disease Control Centre in Wuhan

The team of WHO in their investigating process visited Provisional Disease Control Centre in Wuhan. This Centre had an early hand in managing the outbreak of pandemic. The WHO also visited in Hubei provisional capital last month to look for the clues. Moreover, the team have visited hospitals and seafood market place where cases of infection emerged in December 2019.

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) appointed Bhavya Lal as the Acting Chief of Staff of the US space agency. Lal was a member of the Biden Presidential Transition Agency Review Team and also served for agency’s transition.

However, this information gives a boost to the demand of the vaccine as many countries are desperate to purchase it. 

Senate Confirms Mayorkas as Biden’s Homeland and Security Chief

On Tuesday, the Senate confirmed Alejandro Mayorkas as president Joe Biden’s homeland secretary of security. He is the first Latino to fill a post that plays an important role in the US government. Moreover, votes with the margin of 56-43 confirmed Mayorkas as a homeland security chief.  Earlier, he served as a federal prosecutor and also as a senior DHS official.
