Uttar Pradesh Becomes First State to Have Two Airstrips on Expressways

The construction of 3300-metre long airstrip near Kurebhar on Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh has been completed. With this, UP has become first state to have two expressway airstrips for landing and take-off of fighter planes. The state also has an airstrip on Lucknow-Agra Expressway. Moreover, state government said that newly constructed airstrip can be used to land all categories of aircraft.

All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) under AYUSH ministry of central government launched an awareness campaign Ayu Samwad. The campaign in the form of lecture series will make people aware about Ayurveda principles and the theme ‘Ayurveda for Covid-19 pandemic’. Moreover, the campaign will be held from 26 January 2021 to 30 April 2021 across India.

Punjab Beats Karnataka in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Punjab booked its spot in the final four stages of the gripping Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy. The state has defeated champions Karnataka by nine wickets at the Motera Stadium. Siddharth Kaul for his three-wicket haul and Prabhsimran Singh’s unbeaten 49-run knock received the spotlight for their victory. Following the win, Punjab has reached to the semi-finals.

 On the other hand, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Baroda, Bihar, and Rajasthan have reached the knockout stage. Now, Punjab will face the winner of the Baroda-Haryana match in the second semi-final.

The Transport Corporation of West Bengal has introduced the First Young Readers’ Boat Library. Transport Corporation has started this library in collaboration with a heritage bookstore. It has been set up on a boat on the Hooghly River making it first of its kind initiative. The reason behind this initiative is that one can read books while appreciating the beauty of Kolkata. It will also host some activities like storytelling and poetry sessions. The library will also organise dramatized readings, poetry sessions, music and book launches.

Moreover, it will provide the options for children to choose from a selection of 500 titles in English and Bengali. It will also provide people a three-hour-long trip.

Though, the Republic Day Parade this year was muted amid the COVID-19 pandemic and no chief guest was invited. But this year, Bangladesh Army contingent marched down the Rajpath.

They participated in the parade to mark the completion of 50 years of the liberation of Bangladesh from Pakistani rule. The world has rarely witnesses the military campaign like India-Pakistan war of 1971 and it was one of the finest military victories.
