Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 will Start from August 13
The Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports is going to launch a nationwide program named Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 on August 13. Organisations such as CISF, BSF, CRPF, NYKS, NSG, ITBP, SSB, and Indian Railways along with Nisith Pramanik, Union Minister of State of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will join the launch of this event virtually. In an official release by Ministry, the program will witness around 75 physical events. These events will take place at different historical locations on the launch day of the program.
152 Police Officials Awarded with Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation
The Centre Government awarded around 152 police officers with the ‘Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation’ for 2021. The award was given for their high professional standards of investigation of crime. As per the official statement, out of 152 police personnel, 28 women police officials have been awarded across the country.

ISRO Rocket GSLV Failed to Put Earth Observation Satellite into Orbit
Rocket GSLV of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has failed to put the largest observation satellite of India (EOS-3) into its orbit. The reason behind this unsuccessfulness is the failure to ignite the cryogenic stage of the GSLV. However, the first and second stages of the rocket had performed normally. The objective behind placing this rocket into orbit is to provide real-time imaging of large areas of India at frequent intervals for quick monitoring of natural disasters.

ICC Campaign For Inclusion of Cricket in Olympics 2028
The International Cricket Council will campaign to include cricket sport at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Up till now, cricket has made only one appearance in the Olympics. It was way back in 1900 when Olympics was held in Paris and only two teams competed at that event including the host city Paris and Great Britain. If cricket will get include in the 2028 Olympic event, then this would mark the end of the absence of 128 years from the Olympics.

Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has been ranked second in World Athletics Rankings 2021 with a score of 1315. The first position is secured by Germany’s athlete Johannes Vetter with a score of 1396. Neeraj Chopra has become India’s first athlete to win gold in track and field at the Olympics by throwing the javelin to a distance of 87.58m.

Chief of UN Following Developments with Deep Concern in Afghanistan
The spokesperson of UN Secretary-General said that the general is following with deep concern the developments in Afghanistan. He hopes that the discussions between the Afghan government and the Taliban in Doha will restore the pathways and they would reach a negotiated settlement regarding the conflict. The Taliban is quickly moving towards Afghanistan and has taken control over key provincial capitals. As per the reports, the militant group has captured the country’s second and third largest cities Herat and Kandahar.
International Lefthanders Day 2021 is observed on August 13
August 13 is celebrated as International Lefthanders Day every year. The day is marked to celebrate the uniqueness and differences of left-handed individuals. This day was first celebrated in 1976 by Dean R Campbell. He was the founder of Lefthanders International Inc. Later in 1990, a club named Lefthanders International Club was formed with a motive to promote left-handedness and to make their views known to the world. Further, in 1992, the Club launched the International Lefthanders Day to create awareness regarding the advantages and disadvantages of being left-handed.
