Centre will soon to Launch National Database for Unorganised Workers
Union Labour Ministry is going to launch the e-Shram Portal-National Database for Unorganised Workers on August 26. This e-portal aims to ensure the overall welfare of crores of unorganized workers of the country after seventy-five years of independence. It will be a single-point reference that helps authorities in tracking the unorganised workers and also assists them in offering welfare in times of crisis.
WRI and NITI Aayog Jointly Launched ‘Forum for Decarbonizing Transport’
NITI Aayog and the World Resources Institute (WRI) of India have jointly launched a ‘Forum for Decarbonizing Transport’ that aims to bring down the peak level of GHG emissions in Asia. The increase in GHG emissions resulted in the creation of problems like congestion and air pollution. Under the NDC-Transport Initiative for Asia (NDC-TIA) which is a joint programme of seven organizations, the Forum has been launched.

Delhi Built New Smog Tower to Combat Air Pollution
Ahead of its infamous smog season, the National Capital Territory got a ‘smog tower’. This tower will aid the city in combating air pollution. The structure of the smog tower is 24 m high, and have an 8-storey building on top the building has an 18-metre concrete tower that is topped by a 6-metre-high canopy. The base has 40 fans, ten on each side and each fan can discharge 25 cubic metres per second of purifying air. 5,000 filters are established inside the tower in layers that have been imported from the US.

Princepal Singh Becames First Indian Participant in NBA Championship Roster
When Princepal Singh’s side Sacramento Kings clinched the 2021 NBA Summer League crown, then he became the first Indian to be part of an NBA title-winning team. Princepal’s team Kings dominated the championship game that they were playing against the Boston Celtics. Princepal made history by clinching the title with a 100-67 win.

The author states in her book that a small community of independent publishers was hit particularly hard when the pandemic spread. Most of them have been trying to keep “paralysing despair” at bay. Ritu Menon also co-founded Kali for Women. Kali is India’s first feminist press that was established in 1983. She is a founder-director of Women Unlimited and an associate of KfW.

Thailand Develops Robotic System to Produce More AstraZeneca Vaccine
Thailand is struggling with its worst coronavirus outbreak. So, researchers in the country have developed a machine that will increase the production of Covid-19 vaccine doses more by producing more vaccine doses. Using a robotic arm, the “AutoVacc” system can produce 12 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine in 4 minutes. This machine works only on AstraZeneca multi-dose vials.
Two People got Injured in Acid Attack at a Station in Tokyo
An attack took place at Shirokane Takanawa station which is an upscale part of Tokyo. Two people have severely got injured during the attack. One of the victims, who is a 22-year-old businessman, has suffered burns to his face after the suspect sprayed liquid at him on an escalator. However, the Paralympics opening ceremony was being held under tight security in the capital.
