Reason for Postponement of NEET UG 2021
Few months ago, after the outbreak of second wave of Covid, NEET 2021 was delayed to organize on August 1. However, there were doubts to schedule the test on the said date due to the pandemic situation in mind. On the other hand, NTA has also announced the date for the remaining April and May sessions of JEE Mains to be held between July and August. The date of JEE Mains 2021 and NEET UG 2021 were clashing and students demanded proper gap between these two exams. Students took social media to request education minister to postpone the NEET exam. So, keeping all these factors in view, the Education Ministry postponed the exam of NEET and declared a new date for the same on 12 September.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) (or NEET (UG)) is an all India entrance test for admissions to the medical colleges that opens the gate for MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS and BHMS courses. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the NEET exam and provides the results to the Directorate General of Health Services for seat allocation. NEET-UG replaced the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) and many other pre-medical exams and became a single pre-medical entrance test across the country. From September 2019 onwards, it became common entrance test for admissions to medical colleges in India including the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), which were earlier used to conduct separate entrance exams.
