IPL Schedule Announced: India Will Host IPL 2021

On March 7, 2021, the IPL Governing Council announced the schedule for VIVO Indian Premier League 2021. The council declared that India will be going to host this year’s IPL. However, India got this opportunity after a gap of nearly two years. Consequently, the host cities will include Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai and Ahmedabad. The IPL 2021 will start from April 9, 2021, in Chennai with the opening clash between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Trivendra Singh Rawat Chief Minister of Uttarakhand has Resigned

The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Trivendra Singh Rawat announced that he had submitted his resignation to the state Governor Baby Rani Maurya at the Raj Bhawan.  He also informed that the BJP legislature party meeting has been scheduled for 10 am on March 10, 2021, at the party office. Mr. Rawat had met BJP President JP Nadda as there have been reports of discontent among BJP MPs and MLAs over the functioning style of Trivendra Singh Rawat. However, Trivendra Rawat thanked his party for this golden opportunity to serve as Chief Minister for four years.

BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year Award for 2020 Goes to Koneru Humpy

On Monday Chess player Koneru Humpy has won the second edition of the BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year (ISWOTY) award for 2020. She won by receiving an enormous number of public votes. Moreover, former long jumper Anju Bobby George has received the Lifetime Achievement award for her contribution to Indian sport. Consequently, Manu Bhaker has won the Emerging Player of the Year award.

It will also showcase around 250 artworks from across the 12 countries.

The autobiography of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan aka the ‘Frontier Gandhi’ will going to release his autobiography. The book will be published in English and named ‘The Frontier Gandhi: My Life and Struggle’. The publishing house Roli Books will publish the book. However, it was originally written in Pashto in 1983. The foreword of the book is written by historian Rajmohan Gandhi.

Moreover, the book brings out the life events and personalities of the independence movement. It also accounts for the sacrifices and efforts that resulted in the Independence of India. Consequently, Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan led the Khundai Khidmatgar (Servants of God) movement from 1930 to 1947.

The English translation of the book ‘Amethi Sangram: Aitihasik Jeet Ankahi Dastan’ will be released on March 15.  The journalist-author of the book is Anant Vijay’s. In English the book titled ‘Dynasty to Democracy: The Untold Story of Smriti Irani’s Triumph’. It also traces Union Minister Irani’s journey from her defeat in 2014 to her victory in the Congress stronghold of Amethi, Uttar Pradesh during the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Moreover, the 44-year-old BJP leader had defeated the then Congress chief and MP Rahul Gandhi in his family bastion by a margin of 55,120 votes.

New Zealand Inaugurated Its First Big Vaccination Clinic

New Zealand opened its first big vaccination clinic in South Auckland. Consequently, it will initially target the household members of the border workers. The country also considers border workers and their families are most vulnerable to catch the disease from any infectious travelers. Moreover, as per the Director-General of Health of New Zealand, Ashley Bloomfield, the clinic will vaccinate around 150 people initially per day. This number will gradually increase.

French Billionaire and MP Olivier Dassault Died in Helicopter Crash

On March 7, 2021, the French Member of Parliament and billionaire Olivier Dassault died in a helicopter crash. Dassault was 69 years old. He was a lawmaker with the center-right Republicans party. People last saw him in a public engagement on March 5 in Beauvais near Paris. Moreover, President of France Emmanuel Macron took to Twitter to pay his tributes to Dassault. He also stated that he never ceased to serve our country and to value its assets and his sudden death is a great loss.
