India-Bangladesh is Inaugurating ‘Maitri Setu’ on 9th March

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate the ‘Maitri Setu’ between India and Bangladesh via video conference on March 9, 2021. He will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several infrastructure projects in Tripura on this occasion.  Moreover, ‘Maitri Setu’ is a bridge that is built on the River Feni. Feni river flows between the Indian boundary in the state of Tripura and Bangladesh. National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd constructed the bridge. The total cost of the bridge project is Rs. 133 Crores and is also a 1.9 Km long bridge that connects the Sabroom in India with Ramgarh in Bangladesh.

India’s First Forest Healing Centre is Inaugurated in Ranikhet, Uttarakhand

Environmentalist Joginder Bisht inaugurated India’s first forest healing centre on March 9, 2021. Research Wing of Uttarakhand Forest Department developed this centre in the pine-dominated forest. Consequently, the centre uses an area of around 13 acres to build this healing centre. Moreover, the idea behind this is to heal people with direct contact with nature.

SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy, the World's Most Powerful Rocket Carrying Car into Space

On February 6, 2018, US space flight company SpaceX launched the world’s most powerful operational rocket ‘Falcon Heavy’ into the space. The Falcon Heavy took off from the Kennedy Space Centre at Cape Canaveral, Florida, United States. Falcon Heavy’s smooth takeoff is one of the most surprising things about this launch. SpaceX also managed to guide two of the Falcon Heavy’s first-stage rocket boosters to land straight back on Earth. Consequently, both the space launchers landed in unison at a Kennedy Space Centre landing pad.

Wrestler Bajrang Punia Regains Top Position

Bajrang Punia an Indian wrestler has regained the number one ranking in the world after winning second successive gold medal at Matteo Pellicone Ranking Series. The wrestler defeated Tulga Tumur Ochir of Mongolia by 2-2 criteria in 65 kg the final freestyle event. The event was organised in Rome on March 7, 2021. Consequently, he won the event after getting a two-pointer in last 30 seconds of bout. However, this was the first international competition of Bajrang Punia since the Covid-19 outbreak.

The President of India,Ram Nath Kovind, laid down the foundation stone for conservation works of Singorgarh Fort at the Singrampur village on March 7, 2021. This village comes under the district of Damoh in Madhya Pradesh. Moreover, this hill fort of Garha Kingdom is spread over the hills of a forested area. On the occasion, the President also inaugurated the Jabalpur Circle of Archaeological Survey of India.

Google Launched “Women Will” Web Platform

On March 8, 2021, Google has launched a new web platform called ‘Women Will’ on the occasion of “International Women’s Day”. This platform supports 1 million rural women in India to become entrepreneurs with the help of accelerator programs, business tutorials and mentorship. Women can easily access this web portal in English and Hindi languages. It will also offer guidance to the aspiring women in villages to turn their interest into a business. Consequently, rural women can generate incomes from their hobbies like beauty services, tailoring, home tuition, food processing, etc.

Switzerland Bans the Covering of Full Face in Public Places

Switzerland has voted in favor of the proposal to ban the full facial coverings on March 7, 2021, in almost all public places. These facial coverings involve burqa and niqab. Moreover, around 51.21 percent of voters supported this controversial proposal following a public referendum. Consequently, according to this referendum full facial covering will be banned in all public places of Switzerland such as in the countryside, on the streets, on public transport, in public offices like shops, restaurants. However, the referendum allows full-face covering at the places of worship and other such sacred sites.
